Scads better than The Rose Code! Maybe the author will write a full-length book about Lily another time? We can only hope。
Lisa,
Excellent short story!Kate Quinn hits another homerun with this dual timeline short story about two people whose job it is to listen。 I thoroughly enjoyed this story! Thank you Kate Quinn!

Erin,
Fascinating novella I can never resist a Kate Quinn story and I enjoyed this dual historical that sees a women in 1943 talk to a US navy man in 2023。 I read it in one sitting and really enjoyed the informative author's note。 The banter between the characters was really good and I found myself laughing a few times in the story。 If you enjoyed "The Rose Code" you'll definitely want to snap this one up。 Fascinating novella I can never resist a Kate Quinn story and I enjoyed this dual historical that sees a women in 1943 talk to a US navy man in 2023。 I read it in one sitting and really enjoyed the informative author's note。 The banter between the characters was really good and I found myself laughing a few times in the story。 If you enjoyed "The Rose Code" you'll definitely want to snap this one up。 。。。more

Maddy,
short, sweet, exhilarating TEAR JERKER that i found myself giddily laughing over and unable to put down。 a teaser of the absolute brilliance that is kate quinn and one that deserves the world。
Christine,
I got this book as an Amazon First Read and decided to read it straight away。 I have read other books by Kate Quinn and enjoyed them。 This short story had me hooked right away and what a delightful story。 Sometimes you read book that touches your heart, this was one of them。
Erin Litteken,
Everything I adore about a Kate Quinn novel-fascinating plot, razor sharp prose, and a smart, tenacious heroine -in a bite size package! I absolutely loved it!
Kathryn,
i did not expect to bawl my eyes out over a mere 50 pages but here i am。 only kate quinn could destroy me like this。 long live lady rose and her cowboy
Jenny,
Only Kate Quinn could make me bawl my eyes out reading a mere 50-page story。 I wish this was an entire novel because I would adore it with my whole entire being because this short little story not only captivated my attention and got me hooked and invested immediately but also ripped my heart out。 I loved the concept of radio time distortion and two people connecting to save each other - I felt the instant connection between Matt and Lily。 Quinn is really out here delivering a romancing spanning Only Kate Quinn could make me bawl my eyes out reading a mere 50-page story。 I wish this was an entire novel because I would adore it with my whole entire being because this short little story not only captivated my attention and got me hooked and invested immediately but also ripped my heart out。 I loved the concept of radio time distortion and two people connecting to save each other - I felt the instant connection between Matt and Lily。 Quinn is really out here delivering a romancing spanning time that never actually happened but felt so completely real and just left me weeping。 "They'd already been on borrowed time, Lily thought。 Not even borrowed time-slipped time。 Someone had slipped a little of his time into her pocket, and she didn't know how much more they had left。"I swear Kate Quinn never disappoints and I am so glad she wrote this! 。。。more

Adrianne,
This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I just finished reading The Rose Code a couple of days ago and this was such a treat to have as a follow up。 But you definitely don’t have to have read it first。 This can easily be a standalone short story。 I loved the modern day, sci-fi timeline added in。 I could have read an entire novel about Lily and Matt’s story。 And the ending …。 Kate Quinn is a genius!
Kate Quinn,
An exclusive short story I wrote for Amazon Publishing, exploring one of the pieces of Bletchley Park history I didn't have room for in THE ROSE CODE--namely, the sharp-eared women who worked at the Y stations! Kim Peach,
I received this through Amazon First Reads and even though it is a short story, the premise seemed interesting。 I thought I read somewhere that this is a book you can easily read in a few hours, but when it says it is a short story, it really is just that as it comes in at just over 50 pages, so it will take around half an hour to get through it (I could not find out how many pages it has through Goodreads or Amazon itself)。However, this is not to say that it does not have a lot of story, this b I received this through Amazon First Reads and even though it is a short story, the premise seemed interesting。 I thought I read somewhere that this is a book you can easily read in a few hours, but when it says it is a short story, it really is just that as it comes in at just over 50 pages, so it will take around half an hour to get through it (I could not find out how many pages it has through Goodreads or Amazon itself)。However, this is not to say that it does not have a lot of story, this book definitely packs a punch with the plot especially with it including a time travelling element。 This is something that I am sure is not easy to explain in so few pages, but the author manages without too much detail or major potholes。 It is an okay story, it is written well, but I was not hugely captivated by it。 Would I have preferred if it was a full length novel? Not really。 It does what it intends to do and you do not feel as if you are yearning for more information once finished。 It's not a bad story, but it's not a great story。 。。。more
RedRedtheycallmeRed,
Since I could pick two Kindle First books this month, I chose this short story and I liked it more than I thought I would。 It only took around half an hour to read, the story sucked me in pretty quick。Lily, in 1943, actually hears Matt's ship go down in 2023, and is laser focused on how to prevent that from happening。 Of course, no one believes what's she's heard, but she's quite clever and very strong willed, and she finds a way to communicate with Matt。There's plenty of suspense that kept me t Since I could pick two Kindle First books this month, I chose this short story and I liked it more than I thought I would。 It only took around half an hour to read, the story sucked me in pretty quick。Lily, in 1943, actually hears Matt's ship go down in 2023, and is laser focused on how to prevent that from happening。 Of course, no one believes what's she's heard, but she's quite clever and very strong willed, and she finds a way to communicate with Matt。There's plenty of suspense that kept me turning pages, and I even got a bit teary at the end。 。。。more

Signal Moon - historical fic meets modern times A beautiful story from Kate as always。 This time Kate embellishes her historical fiction craft with a bit of time traveling and to give it a modern twist。 And it pays off! I am completely smitten by petty officers Lady Rose and Jackson and just as transfixed by their transmissions!Filled with tension and intrigue, with an ending that is touching! Well done Lady Kate!

Good short story, takes about 40 minutes to read。 It's related to The Rose Code, which I loved, but you don't have to have read TRC to understand this book。 As you can tell from the blurb, the story plays with time--and in terms of time-play, it's on the conventional side。 I've read this motif before。 But don't let that stop you from reading it because the worldbuilding is awesome, the characters are good, and you can really sense the desperation as they try to divert the inevitable。 It's also a Good short story, takes about 40 minutes to read。 It's related to The Rose Code, which I loved, but you don't have to have read TRC to understand this book。 As you can tell from the blurb, the story plays with time--and in terms of time-play, it's on the conventional side。 I've read this motif before。 But don't let that stop you from reading it because the worldbuilding is awesome, the characters are good, and you can really sense the desperation as they try to divert the inevitable。 It's also a Prime First Read this month, so if it's still July 2022 when you're reading this review, you can pick it up for free。 Enjoy! 。。。more
Deb Kiley,
Signal Moon by Kate Quinn is a delightful short story set in 1942。 Lily is a Wren stationed at Station Y that listens and writes down any information she hears from the Germans。 But there is a time warp glitch and she hears information from 2023。 How she connects with the 2023 Navy signalman is entertaining and shows the mastery of Kate Quinn to weave a tale。 If you are a fan, this is a must read!
